ACEP Day 2 | Tuesday, Oct 10, 2023

Physician recruitment and retention are some of the hottest topics at ACEP 2023, but they’re symptoms of the same root issue. Burnout. Studies show 62% of emergency medicine providers report symptoms of burnout. Emergency medicine reports burnout at a higher rate than almost any other specialty, and it’s only getting worse. The primary cause for provider burnout? Administrative burden, specifically EMR use and documentation workloads. Notes can often add five or more hours to a provider’s day, and are at risk of error if addressed hours after a patient visit.

Luckily, there is an easy way to relieve providers from the challenges of documenting clinical encounters. Leveraging scribes decreases burnout while making organizations more attractive when recruiting new providers. By mitigating rising staffing costs, increasing patients seen per hour, and improving documentation accuracy, scribes are the most efficient way to improve the performance of your care team.
